Presented by Kings ARI (Vic) and Clarence arts and Events as part of the Hobiennale 2017 Festival: Elapse draws on the longstanding community presence of KINGS Artist Run initiative, bringing together emerging and established Melbourne artists to activate the spaces of the Schoolhouse Gallery. Multi-disciplinary perspectives are presented alongside a selection of moving image works, continuing KINGS’ ongoing association with video and new media. Through image, sound and material interventions the artists interact closely with the site as a basis for experimentation. Elapse constructs an immersive environment within the gallery, offering the viewer a context to explore, interpret and participate in the mediation of new social and cultural meanings.

ABOUT KINGS ARI
KINGS Artist Run Initiative is a non-profit and altruistic collective of artists, writers, curators and academics who work together to maintain a critical platform within the Melbourne art community. Formed in 2003, KINGS assists and promotes the development of solo exhibitions, group and thematic projects, along with a program of events that includes performance, film screenings, public gatherings and talks.
KINGS currently supports a range of projects across three exhibition spaces in which artists at all stages of their careers are provided with an opportunity to form new work.
