Ambivalent landscapes: Peter Maarsaveen & Nicole O’Loughlin

Nicole O’Loughlin and Peter Maarseveen explore how they are getting to know and understand the land they live on. Through experimentation and shifting perspectives the artists each have an ongoing dialogue with the surroundings in the foothills of kunyani/Mt Wellington.
Their reciprocal relationship with the surrounds informs the works, for Peter the engagement with the plant matter in the photographic techniques, for Nicole the links between domesticity and care for the land. Ambivalent landscapes offer a glimpse into each studio practice of the artists.
