Frogmore Jazz Lounge – Session 2 – Shannon Barnett

Shannon Barnett is an Australian trombonist and composer, currently based in Cologne, Germany, and is our 2024 CJF Ambassador.
In a career that has spanned decades and continents (from Melbourne to New York to Germany and everywhere in between) Shannon has played with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Pedro Giraudo, Cyrille Aimée, Vince Mendoza, Ron Carter, Joshua Redman, Maria Schneider Paquito D’Rivera. the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra, The Birdland Big Band, and the WDR Big Band.

In April 2019, she became a Professor for Jazz Trombone at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, Germany. She has won several awards, including the WDR Jazz Prize for Improvisation in 2020 and the German Jazz Prize in the brass instrument category in 2022.
