Cluster: Matt Warren

“Cluster”, an exhibition by Matt Warren features single channel video works, a kinetic light sculpture installation and a light & sound installation.

The works investigate gathering, the formation of worlds, harmony and kinetics through sonic and visual elements informed by psychedelia, digital abstraction and hauntology.

The two single channel video works, through moving image and sound, abstractly explore cosmic interaction and formation. We see orbs bouncing off each with reactions of an aurally human nature, intimate and responsive. We also see a black void and a psychedelic milky way evolving and shifting in an organic fashion whilst we hear whirring, clicking and humming like the soundscape from an industrial factory.

The installed works also look at clustering and gathering of aural and visual constituents. The kinetic work plays with collaborative chaos and a lack of control, whilst the sound installation is a harmonic immersive world, a shifting minor chord created with a familiar thrum of falling rain.

Each work is its own entity, but in totality, clustered together, create a visual and aural weather within the space.
