Embracing the scavenger: Anne McLean
Anne McLean explores the idea that scavenging and collection, often seen as shameful or nostalgic, can be reframed. Waste in all its forms is examined – what is considered a waste of time, resources, energy, and materials is reinterpreted through various lenses, including an imagined world of tiny ‘Womble’-like people. These imaginings offer an alternative reality where scavenging is key to life, waste has a value, materials are repurposed, and beautiful items are venerated as the focus of their religion.
